1878-80, John Honeyman At the eastern end of Cathedral Square Gardens is the former Barony North Church, now the Glasgow Evangelical Church. This is Italian Renaissance in style and is unusual for a Glasgow church as it has a number of prominent statues: St Paul and St Peter are in niches in the two towers while St Mathew, St Mark, St Luke and St John grace the balustrade. At their feet lie, respectively, the heads of a man, a lion, a calf and an eagle. This article is based on the guidebook "The Glasgow Guide". |

Glasgow churches are seldom decorated with statues; two of this church`s figures can be seen on the balustrade. |
